One attraction is the Apollo 13 space capsule, which was built for the film release of the Hollywood blockbuster of the same name starring Tom Hanks in the early 1990s. Children and adults can take a seat in the cockpit and recreate the journey to the moon.
In addition, there is a new small planetarium with which you can observe the starry sky even in bad weather and/or watch interesting shows.
An exhibition in the Space Studio aims to make the universe comprehensible. The huge distances can be explored with the sense of touch using specially made models, which also makes it easier for blind people to access astronomy. In addition, award-winning large-format sky photographs from the collection of Saarland astrophotographer Sebastian Voltmer will be exhibited in the rooms of the Space Studio. Also on display are rarely presented film sequences in which famous astronauts and cosmonauts from the USA and the former Soviet Union tell of their adventures and describe how they mastered the journey to the moon or the first and life-threatening exit from a space capsule in Earth orbit.
The "Peter's Moon Journey" event is aimed at families with children aged 5-11. Adult-only groups can contact us beforehand to arrange an individual programme.

Space available max. 25 persons (summer), 20 persons (winter). In times of the corona pandemic, the respective limitations of the federal state/Saarland apply.
