Seasonal café
The Café saisonal in Herbitzheim offers its guests delicious dishes and cakes made with ingredients from the Saarland and neighbouring regions, all served in a lovely atmosphere.
The Café saisonal is situated in a centuries-old building in Herbitzheim, within the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve. It serves dishes and cakes made with ingredients that change with the seasons. Depending on the harvest season and availability, the café uses fruit and vegetables grown in the Saarland and neighbouring regions. Selected ingredients come from certified organic production. Outdoor seating is also available.
Owner Gabi Steinmann has close ties to the Bliesgau: “I love this region, its landscape, the Muschelkalk, the diverse natural environment and the people who live here.”
With the Café saisonal, she has created a place for socialising, culinary delights and cultural events. The café’s name refers to the seasonally changing selection of ingredients used.
Edible wild herbs from the surrounding area also play a key role in the kitchen. Gabi Steinmann collects selected herbs herself from suitable meadows and woodland areas, or harvests them from her own herb bed. The herbs used depend on the season and availability.
By prior arrangement, the café can cater for breakfast or brunch, candlelit dinners, afternoon tea and hot and cold buffets for groups of up to 20 people. During the warmer months, these events can also take place in the outdoor area.
