Saarbrücken’s zoo, which benefits from an idyllic location in a former sandstone quarry, invites visitors to relax in the middle of the city – a great place to recharge your batteries.
The zoo is home to cheetahs, the world’s fastest hunters on land, but also to gentle goats that can be fed in the petting zoo. There’s a night zoo for nocturnal animals and also some mighty yaks of up to 580 kilos. Regular feeding sessions, such as the piranha feeding times every Saturday and Tuesday at 3 pm, are a special visitor highlight as are the pony riding activities at no extra cost on Sundays and Bank Holidays (weather permitting).
