Keltenpark Otzenhausen
The Celtic hillfort of Otzenhausen is one of the most impressive Celtic fortifications in Europe. Built in the first century BC, the 10-metre high walls still testify to the epic monument. The preservation of this unique site will be a task for future generations.
At the foot of the hillfort, a Celtic village has been built in the so-called Keltenpark (Celtic park) just like it could have existed in the massive fortification 2,000 years ago. This reconstruction of a Celtic settlement is a major part of the Keltenpark that is in the process of being built. Currently, the settlement consists of ten buildings, including residential dwellings, workshops and storehouses, whose architecture and construction methods are based on historical findings and models. The settlement is surrounded by a wooden palisade
made of sharpened oak trunks, which give the ensemble an authentic character. The Keltenpark also includes a natural outdoor stage made of light-coloured stone blocks, where theatre, concerts and other performances take place.
From April to October, the site regularly hosts special events, workshops and archaeological demonstrations.
Individual guided tours of the hillfort and Keltenpark Otzenhausen can be booked at any time. Open guided tours are offered on Sundays and public holidays at 3 pm.
The Celtic hillfort is freely accessible and can be visited all year round.
