Gersheim orchid area
Around 30 different species of orchids grow in a small space in Gersheim, which can be viewed from the beginning of May to the beginning of July.
Parts of the Gersheim orchid area have been a nature reserve since 1957. This is because the "Mediterranean" climate and the nutrient-poor soil favour particularly rare biocoenoses. Almost half of the orchid species found in Germany can be discovered here, as well as other rare animals and plants. The orchid trail, for example, shows special species at ten stations, why they occur here of all places and how we can preserve their habitat. In addition to orchids, the adventure trail also introduces butterflies, birds and grasshoppers.
Please do not remove any animals or plants and stay on the paths and trails to avoid harming orchids and animals.
