The German Museum of Minerals is located in Idar-Oberstein , a small town which has, for centuries, been a major centre of the gemstone cutting industry.

The museum houses the most important collection of minerals, diamonds and gemstones in Germany. It also provides insights into the handicrafts of local blacksmiths and showcases the largest overseas minerals from all over the world in Germany's most beautiful crystal hall.
