Garden tour at Finkenrech
At Finkenrech, every season has its own special charm.
Flowers, shrubs and flowering trees shine in ever-changing colours and colour combinations almost all year round. Rarer plants also attract visitors with unusual charms: anyone who wants to marvel at a handkerchief tree, a tulip tree or a bluebell tree in full bloom will have plenty of opportunity to do so here.
By the way: When designing the different garden areas, the location of the planting is chosen in such a way that the use of pesticides can be minimised.

Theme gardens
Guided tour of the rose garden
One of the main attractions at Finkenrech is the rose garden. In the shape of a long-stemmed rose, it presents a variety of different rose classes on 1,500 m².
A particularly great spectacle of colour can be marvelled at during the main flowering period in June / July (second flowering period around August / September).
The tour guide explains the garden in an expert manner and introduces different types of roses and rose varieties. These include climbing roses, wonderfully fragrant "historic roses" and "English roses". In addition, you will receive all kinds of tips on the plants and their care.
Guided tour of the Asian Garden
The Asian Garden is an individual composition of Japanese and Chinese elements.
It includes four thematic areas: Zen or gravel garden, pond garden, landscape garden and bamboo grove. First and foremost, it is a place to linger and reflect, because here it is easy to leave the worries and problems of everyday life behind.
The planting symbolises the change of seasons: spring through the Japanese cherries and azaleas, summer through the rhododendrons and lilies, autumn through the colouring of the various maples and winter through the snow-covered pines.
Uneven, winding paths are designed to encourage visitors to walk attentively.
Guided tour of the herb and medicinal plant garden
Many plants that play an important role in orthodox medicine and alternative medicine are presented in the medicinal plant garden on an area of around 650 m².
On the journey through the herb garden you will discover the diversity of wild and garden herbs and learn interesting facts about collecting, enjoying and growing them in your own garden.

Ant detectives
Everyone knows them, but hardly anyone knows what these little animals do in secret. We are talking about ants. They are among the strongest creatures in the world and can form colonies of up to 100,000 individuals.
Ants even practise agriculture, animal husbandry and trade. Therefore, they are much more similar to us humans than we think.
How important are ants for the ecosystem? And can we learn from them?
These and other exciting topics are illustrated on the exploration tour to the ants around Finkenrech. With digital devices, pictures and videos, participants are given insights that cannot even be perceived with the naked eye.
