The Bettinger Mühle (or Culture Centre) in Schmelz is testimony to the Mennonite mills on the River Prims. The former mill garden has been transformed into a Farming Educational and Show Garden. In addition to the fruit, vegetables and herbs on display, there are also ornamental plants, especially perennials and roses, which have always had a place in a cottage garden. The bulbs and summer blossoms planted in rotation ensure that the garden is in bloom whatever the season. Also on show is a raised bed, as well as compost bins, a wild bee wall, observation beehive and roof greenery.
Guided tours of the garden and mill:
By arrangement. Groups (maximum 25 people) €50.00, ‘Open’ guided tours May to October on the first Sunday of the month (in September on the second Sunday) 10.00, Adults €3.00, Children €1.00.
