Celts' route
Mittel
Experiencing nature is one thing when hiking – another is enriching the experience with knowledge. Hiking in the Bliesgau is incredibly enriching for this, and on this hiking route, a much larger and connected picture forms from history and geology around the Celtic hut (rest station) in Blieskastel-Altheim.

Soft ground flatters the feet of the hikers and the eyes rest on the gentle hills of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve. Nature invites you to the table! Let yourself be taken away to the nature of the Bliesgau on this approx. 6.5 km long circular hike and discover numerous treasures along the way. See, smell, feel, and taste all that nature gives us!

Wegbeschreibung
The start of the Celts' route is at the hiking car park of the Altheim sports center. From there, the path leads over the L201. After a few meters, the route turns right, gently uphill between the Gräfinthaler Dell and the Hungerberg. A great hike on the Altheim ridge with views over the open countryside and past former Celtic burial mounds.
Now the Celts' route leads straight through a closed forest area, before descending again at the two natural monuments “The old thick oaks” of Altheim into the Bickenalbtal valley and then back to the starting point in Altheim. There you can also stroll through the historic Pirminius garden by the church. The beautifully designed garden is a tribute to the life’s work of Saint Pirminius, the founder of Hornbach Abbey. Nine square beds represent the nine monastery foundations of the saint, and a rose arch symbolizes the "paradisiacal" in his life.
