Where vines are grown in the Saarland...

… you can expect a good meal. Three countries, cultures and mentalities melt into one: In the 'Schengen Corner', the river Moselle with its gardens and castles and above all its vineyards, brings together people from Germany, France and Luxembourg.

About 60 years ago, in an area of 130 hectares, some wine growers started, against all odds, to grow vines along the hills of the Moselle, which had been devastated by the ravages of war. Today, wine lovers from all over the world
are grateful for their endeavours. For on the shell limestone of the 'Moseltor' area, vines of a very special character have come into their own. The much-praised Burgundy varieties – both still and sparkling wines – are a rare treat. For example, the fine Pinots Blancs, delicately fruity Auxerrois, elegant Chardonnays and meaty Pinots Gris. But the Moselle region also produces traditional varieties such as Elbling and Rivaner. We invite all wine lovers who would like to taste these varieties to take part in a gourmet trip to the Saarland.

Summer wine tastings in the Saarland

Almost every weekend from April to October, winegrowers in the Saarland open their cellars and tasting rooms. Enjoy the congenial atmosphere of the wine cellars and taste the excellent wines and sparkling wines, accompanied by local culinary specialities. A special highlight during this period is the big wine festival in Nennig, where conviviality and connoisseurs meet.
