Get to know the capital city

Pop in the Europe Gallery, an architecturally impressive shopping center on the premises of the former Bergwerksdirektion (mining directorate) close to the main station. The unique shopping world features 110 shops, cafés, restaurants and service providers on three floors.

After the city tour, enjoy Saarland’s authentic cuisine in one of the many restaurants on St. Johanner Markt and surroundings. A fresh crafted beer along with local food awaits you at the restaurant and microbrewery Stiefel-Bräu - founded in 1702 and still family-owned.

UNESCO world cultural heritage site

The Völklinger Hütte is a gigantic ironworks dating from the heyday of the industrialisation. Today it is an exciting theme and adventure park in an area of over 600,000 sqm (≈6,458,346 sqft). It is also the venue for high-quality exhibitions and events. Particularly impressive is the group of blast furnaces with a 40 m-high (≈131.23 ft) viewing platform.
