Potato (Grumbeere)

Once upon a time, the potato still counted as an enemy, as people simply ate parts of the unknown plant that were not fit for consumption and it was said: "What's in the ground is close to the devil."

The potato came to the Saar about 325 years ago and is still not only one of the staple foods of Saarland cuisine, but also a cultural symbol. As the basis of many traditional dishes, such as "Dibbelabbes" or "Gefillde", it is impossible to imagine life here without it. The fertile soils in the Saarland offer optimal conditions for growing potatoes, which is why they can also be bought from many regional suppliers.
