Wegelogo 3-Villages-Route
The Three Villages Trail connects the towns of Altheim, Böckweiler, and Pinningen, thus linking three typical idyllic villages in the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve. Besides the beautiful landscape and some great views, the hiker can also experience beautifully restored farmhouses and sights such as the 1000-year-old Stephanus Church in Böckweiler.
Autorentipp
Visit the Pirminius Garden near the small Bickenalb brook, somewhat hidden behind the village church. It lies on the pilgrimage route from Hornbach to Metz. The beautifully designed garden in the former parsonage garden of the Catholic Church of St. Andreas in Altheim, the "Hortus pirminii," is considered a tribute to the life’s work of Saint Pirminius, the founder of the Hornbach monastery. Nine square beds represent the monasteries founded by the saint, and a rose arch symbolizes the "paradisiacal" aspect of his life. Additionally, the garden has a rose arbor, a water trough, a small orchard, herb and flower beds, and a vineyard. The visit to the village church is also worthwhile, where among other things, Saint James can be admired.
The approx. 1,400 m2 overgrown parsonage garden was redesigned by citizens of Altheim, who later founded the Pirminius Garden support association, together with the city of Blieskastel. The new design was created as a reminiscence of the life’s work of the missionary Pirminius.

Wegbeschreibung
The starting point of the hike is the sports field in Altheim. After a short ascent and along a well-maintained field path, always with a distant view, the route leads to Pinningen. From there, the trail first climbs to the Pinningen hut, which offers a beautiful panoramic view. Along the following panorama path, there are repeatedly magnificent views of the Bliesgau, the Palatinate Forest, and the nearby Lorraine. The path then descends to Böckweiler with its landmark, the Stephanus Church, the oldest church in the Saarland. The hiking trail finally leads back through fields and meadows to Altheim.
