Rimoco spice manufactory
Beschreibung
Richard Möcks and Ben Albuzat are committed to spices being given more attention again: in their view, good food starts with exquisite spices. They offer these in their spice factory in Saarbrücken. Quality is a top priority here, which is why every single step in the production of unusual spice blends is carried out by hand.
Behind the scenes:
Food lady Jutta Hehn visited the guys and developed a delicious recipe for using organic fish spice and organic dukkah: doughnuts made from golden sole with dukkah rice.
In a special place, special spices are created for special dishes. Made by special people for special people!
Richard Möcks and Ben Albuzat are from Saarland, love to eat, cook and enjoy. On many trips to distant countries, they have come to know and appreciate the diversity of spice kitchens. Back home, they could no longer be satisfied with the often pale and tired-looking spices on supermarket shelves. They knew about the flavor explosions that spices can trigger: good food starts with exquisite spices. A motto that could only lead in one direction: they would make their own spices. Solid craftsmanship, sophisticated recipes and organic spices from ecologically controlled cultivation. Everything is put together, mixed, packaged, labeled and, if you like, shipped by hand.
Rimoco offers an impressive range of chilies, herbs, curries, spice blends, salts and peppers. Of the delicious curries, the slightly sour-tasting purple curry with hibiscus flowers impressed me the most. You can find classics such as Baharat, Café de Paris, Cajun, Garam Masala or Dukkah. The 160 spices and spice blends produced by the company also include regionally inspired spice mixtures such as Dibbelabbes or Schwenker seasoning, as well as other down-to-earth compositions for fried potatoes, bread or bean soup. Ayurvedic spice blends are also available. The company's product philosophy is clear: the quality of the individual ingredients must not be compromised!
The manufactory has found its home in a former carpenter's workshop in a picturesque courtyard. The rooms were completely renovated and most of the renovation work was carried out by the owners themselves. With great sensitivity for the interior design, a coherent place full of character was created. You enter the manufactory through a large presentation and sales room with an impressive cooking island and an expansive wooden table, where spice seminars and individual cooking evenings take place regularly. Old wood, brick walls and huge lattice windows in an industrial look can be seen, discarded elsewhere and used here as impressive room dividers. Richard and Ben have consciously created transparency to allow insights into the rooms of the open manufactory.
