Not far from the hustle and bustle of the town of Thionville, the Château de la Grange provides a refuge in the form of somewhere between manorial grandeur and horticultural tradition. The garden combines the meadows, which have remained unchanged, with woodland surroundings, native wild plants with exotic varieties, and the 18th century building with contemporary landscaping. It is as though nature has been allowed to take its course without human intervention. Yarrows, wild carrots, vetches and sunflowers thrive alongside asters, boxwoods, spurges and lilies, a symbol of the French royal dynasties.
