Fruchteria
For many years, Fruchteria has been known for its excellent homemade jams, chutneys and other delicacies. It only uses seasonal regional specialties in its production.
Beschreibung
The Fruchteria shop is now located in the Europa Galerie.
At the Fruchteria, sweet and savory spreads, syrups, chutneys, relishes, barbecue and pasta sauces are all homemade by the owner, Andrea Dumont. She draws on old recipes handed down from her grandmother, develops them further and is constantly inventing new ones. She places great value on using regional products. Her products are handmade with time and a lot of love. You can taste it.
A variety of fruits used are fresh and handpicked. In addition to the classics, there is also room for the unusual in Andrea's pots. The Fruchteria range includes classics such as strawberry or apricot fruit spread, as well as tomato with tonka bean or mango and rosemary spread.
Many of the products can be sampled on the premises. The range is complemented by selected chocolates, a range of baked goods from the baker sisters in Eppelborn, handmade wooden furniture in a natural look, regional wines and spirits, as well as vinegars and oils from the Palatinate, Bliesgau and Saargau regions. There are also decorative items and consumer goods to match the theme of enjoyment.
You can buy the homemade products directly in the shop and order them via the online shop. If your desired product is not available online, it is always worth asking by email at frucht@fruchteria.de. Often, small quantities are still available that are already out of stock in the online shop.

Behind the scenes
Food critic Jutta Hehn visited the Fruchteria and got Andrea Dumont to share some interesting tips and tricks for making delicious regional chutneys, crème caramel and jams. In her kitchen, she used Landbier cream and quince slices to create Swiss chard with caramel béchamel sauce and braised quince.
The Fruchteria packs a whole lot of regional culinary craftsmanship into a small space. It brings a smile to the faces of gourmets and the pleasure-seeking. Lavishly stocked shelves and attractively presented displays invite you to browse at length. You immediately feel at ease, especially when you are greeted warmly and cordially by Andrea Dumont, who asks you about your preferences. Her customers take time for themselves, and enjoy a little chat. A young woman is over the moon to have found one of the last jars of Zwirabelle. This spread, a wild cross between the plum and the Mirabelle plum, is highly addictive, she says.
It all started with the Dumont family running a small hotel and making their own jams for breakfast, of course. Because if you've watched your grandmother making and bottling jam as a child, you won't serve your guests store-bought products. More and more guests wanted to buy the fruit spreads for home or as gifts, and the Fruchteria began to grow and flourish in its own production facility. The ingeniously created spreads, jellies, relishes and chutneys were a hit. For me, the caramel creams are beguilingly delicate: classic or with espresso and subtly tart with country beer, all very smooth and full of flavor. In her culinary universe, the lady of the house also has rare preserves, for example, made from jostaberry, a cross between a currant and a gooseberry. Over time, orders for gift baskets became so abundant that the range had to be expanded: fruity vinegars, oils and mustards, flour from the region, pasta made from eggs from happy chickens. Sausage specialties made from game, homemade and handcrafted pâtés that are even sold at Käfer in Munich. The sweet treats are also handpicked: Florentines, truffles, tea biscuits, chocolate, award-winning honey and liqueurs.
Rarities are gathered in the corner with the high and not so high percentage. Saar whisky, pastis, absinthe, fine brandies, gin. Next to them, in cool wrapping paper, the creative beers from the local brewery. A new league of beer beyond the bitter Pils. Next to the Sauvignon Blanc from the oldest vineyard in the Saarland, near Reinheim, a Blanc de Blancs from the Nahe, which rises in the Saarland, is in the best company of a white mulled wine, which is drunk on the rocks in summer. The variety of products amazes me and shows the care with which they were selected. Andrea Dumont is in her element. She is a hedonist and loves nature. She likes to pick fruit herself, and will occasionally climb a tree. All of the fruit preserves and chutneys are stirred by hand. She was just in the kitchen next door, working with the large wooden spoon. Good things take time, she says, and nods in confirmation.
