Frankenholz Community Centre
The Frankenholz Community Centre is the heart and soul of this Bexbach neighbourhood. As a meeting place for local clubs and visitors, it offers home-style dining, an idyllic beer garden and the ideal starting point for the Grubenweg trail.
The Frankenholz Community Centre is regarded as the village’s ‘parlour’ and its vibrant hub of social life. Since its opening in 1974, the centre has become an indispensable focal point for the village community, welcoming tourists and locals alike with genuine Saarland hospitality. In the on-site restaurant, managed by Peter Fell, visitors can expect honest, home-style cooking, complemented by seasonal dishes and regional specialities.
Particularly during the summer months, the idyllic beer garden invites you to relax under the open sky with a cool drink and hearty home-cooked food after a long walk.
For hiking enthusiasts and history buffs, the community centre is the perfect starting point: right on the forecourt, dominated by the striking community fountain, attractive routes such as the Frankenholz Circular Walk or the Grubenweg begin.
The latter serves as a striking reminder of the local mining history and leads past historic sites of the former Frankenholz mine.
In the immediate vicinity of the centre are also the impressive parish church of St Joseph and the Lourdes Grotto, which, as places of tranquillity and contemplation, round off the cultural character of the village. With its combination of culinary offerings, its role as a community centre and its direct link to an extensive network of walking trails in the countryside, the Frankenholz Community Centre offers the ideal setting for socialising and active recreation in nature.
