Experience route "Ecological Backpack"

Since June 2015, curious hikers have been welcomed to an informative experience route in the Blieskastel spa forest. At 12 stations, interested visitors can playfully engage with the ecological impacts of their lifestyle.

You accompany Paul, a genuine Bliesgau native: He lives with his family in a house in Saarland. He prefers jeans and a T-shirt over a suit. In the evenings, Paul likes to barbecue with the neighbors or watch TV. He works in a modern office, commuting 6 km daily by his own car. He loves nature and enjoys hiking in his free time. He shops several times a week – mostly at the discount store, but sometimes also at the local shop around the corner. Paul is very interested in environmental issues and wants to harm nature as little as possible through his life – without completely giving up enjoyment.

During the thematic route, Paul deals with the concept of the ecological backpack and takes a closer look at one day: He wants to find out how his everyday life affects the environment – that is, how "large" the backpack is that he carries with him throughout the year – and how he can reduce the weight of his backpack.
