Afrika Kapelle, Herzweg, 66636 Tholey

The Africa Chapel, which has been part of Tholey Abbey since 1958, is located on the north side of Mount Schaumberg, above the Herzweg trail.

Beschreibung

This memorial to the African veterans of the Second World War is reminiscent of a crown of thorns with its heptagonal layout and is said to represent the Seven Sorrows of Mary.
The Pieta (an image of the Sorrowful Mother of God), which was modelled by prisoners of war in northern Africa, is particularly striking.
