Signage 4-Ponds-Route
A 14 km long route through attractive meadow valleys and forests, along streams, springs, and ponds, some of which invite you to relax, to oases of silence at secluded, picturesque small lakes. Along the way, several places to eat offer the opportunity to recharge, and several Kneipp basins provide great refreshment, especially in summer.
Autorentipp
On the hike, 3 Kneipp foot baths in Schüren, at the Glashütter Pond, and at the Wombacher Pond invite you to do something for your health. A real challenge in terms of cold is the Kneipp facility at the Linden Fountain at the Glashütter Pond! The arm bath is a few hundred meters further along the pond.
Wegbeschreibung
The route starts at the Schüren hiking parking lot. This belongs to the Schüren recreational area at the Schürer Pond with a great Kneipp facility. The facility consists of a foot pool and an arm basin as well as benches and a rest area with two playground equipment for children. Past the town of Schüren, the path leads along the "Wildfrauental" above and then at Spiesen into the "Rödschestal." Please note: you will cross the L112 and before the "Rödschestal" the L243 – please watch out for heavy traffic!
The path continues through the Rödschestal to the crossing of the L241 then further into the Spieser Valley to the Spieser Mill up to the Glashütter Pond. The Glashütter Pond is located in the idyllic Kleberbach Valley northeast of Rohrbach. The pond complex is a popular recreational area. At the Linden Fountain, you can complete a round in the Kneipp foot bath; the arm bath is located a little further along the path. The entire area is part of the water protection zone, so bathing is prohibited. The water surface covers about 3 hectares. The range of offerings around the pond is very diverse for those seeking relaxation, with an excursion restaurant and a managed hut inviting you to rest. Around the Glashütter Pond, you head again via the L241 towards St. Ingbert into the Rohrbach Valley straight on to the Wombacher Pond with a fisherman's hut and Kneipp facility. If you're lucky, you can watch the Scottish Highland cattle grazing in the Rohrbach Valley.
The circular path continues over the L234 after a slight ascent to the Schwammwiesbacher Ponds (also called Sauweiher). From here, you reach the L112 again, cross it, and continue walking past the "Sioux Pond" with giant swing back to Schüren to the starting point of the hike.
