Waderner autumn and game market
Every year, the autumn and game market in Wadern marks the end of the Genusswochen in der wilden Heimat and the start of the Wildwochen, the oldest of the culinary autumn events in Hunsrück and Hochwald. On the weekend of 25-26 October, you can stroll along the stalls, discover delicacies from the forest and meadows and learn interesting facts about our local nature.
Colourful market hustle and bustle
The autumn and game market in Wadern combines tasty and informative food to create a special autumnal market experience. The hunting horn corps from Wadern and Grimburg play along with brandy tastings, hearty venison sausages and regional wine. Around 40 market participants have announced their attendance this year. Talking shop while buying ham and leg of venison, at the cosy wine stand, at the presentation of the nature park's mushroom advisory service, the falconers, the beekeepers or the information offered by the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park will all come naturally. The local birds of prey are presented by a falconer during the wildlife market. At the numerous market stalls, you can discover tasty products such as honey, vinegars, oils and spices, vegan products or cheese and salami. The food stalls tempt you with spit-roasted wild boar, Baumstriezel, pumpkin soup or grilled sausages and meatballs. Market hours: Saturday from 9.00 to 15.00, Sunday from 12.00 to 18.00.
Supporting programme, as colourful as the autumn leaves
On Sunday, the St. Hubertus alphorn players will open the market, while magician Maxim Maurice will make a guest appearance on Montmorillon Square from 3 pm. He offers a spectacular show that will delight children of all ages. From disappearing objects to amazing illusions and astonishing magic tricks, children will not only be entertained but also inspired to discover their own creativity and imagination. His performance is an event organised by the Villa Fuchs District Cultural Centre in cooperation with the town of Wadern and with the kind support of the Youth Welfare Office of the Merzig-Wadern district. On the day, the trio "MEP" will bring stylish unplugged sound exactly where it should be: very close to the audience. As a mobile band, they will be travelling around the market square and Montmorillon Platz, playing many "classics" live with great quality and enthusiasm.
