Description

We climb from the valley of the Ruwer along the Benninger Bach to the heights before Trier at 370 m. From there we can enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Moselle valley. We then slowly approach the city on the Moselle on varied paths.
At the Trimmelter Hof, the destination point, we can go downhill to the bus stops for lines 6, 16, 30, 33 and 87, which will take us to the city center and the main station. Those who want to continue hiking can reach the amphitheater after another 4.4 km via an access road and after another 2.7 km through the historic center the main station.
Trier, the former Roman imperial residence, has incredibly impressive evidence from Roman days. In addition, there are many reasons to join a culture day with the cathedral and the old town and other sights.

We recommend sturdy shoes (hiking boots) and weather-appropriate hiking clothing on all stages.

Trier
The Roman city has eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites and other significant sights.

The Saar-Hunsrück-Steig is a natural path, 65% of which is over soft forest floor, over grass paths or along streams. However, this special quality can also lead to problems after long periods of rain and make parts of the path more difficult to walk on. Therefore, sturdy shoes are strongly recommended.
