The Fritz Wunderlich cycle path links seamlessly to the Sankt Wendeler Land railway cycle path and thus offers an extension of the cycle route to Altenglan via Kusel. The cycle route is named after the singer who was born in Kusel. Between Altenglan and Kusel, the route also runs entirely along the route of a former railway line over 2 high viaducts and 2 tunnels. The predominantly water-bound surface and the route over the old railway line, which is mostly densely surrounded by bushes and trees, make the cycle tour on the path a quiet, natural experience.

This trail will take you through one of the Saarland’s biggest woodlands. Kilometer after kilometer of meandering paths invite you on a spectacular hike in the forest. There will be banks of mottled sandstone on the way as well as caves. You’ll also see the mysterious Frauenbrunnen well that has been used as a ceremonial site since Celtic times.

MTB 5 around Marpingen is ideal for familiarising yourself with and adapting to the rather hilly landscape of Sankt Wendel County.

Although the tour is only 21.6 km long, it does offer some steep climbs. It leads mainly through a forest environment on unpaved paths and trail sections. But you are always rewarded with marvellous views and an impressive landscape. Connections and parallel routes to MTB 6 offer great combination options. You can always recharge your batteries and treat yourself to a break at the catering establishments along the route. If you feel like it, you can visit the Härtelwald Marian Worship Site with Mary's Spring. Cool your tired feet and legs in the Kneipp walking pool.
