Düppenweiler Historical Copper Mine

When visiting the copper mine, you travel down to the underground world of the Visitors‘ Mine via the new „Barbara Shaft („Barbaraschacht“).

Roughly 600 metres of drifts and four shafts with sinkings of between 10 and 18 metres have been cleared and fitted with shaft openings. During the underground tour, „Mystallica“– a lighting and sound installation system – presents the mine‘s core features, such as the cathedral, the underground lake and the machine shaft. Above ground, it‘s possible to view the copper mill, which was built according to historical models, with its stamp mill, smelter and machinery.

In enclosed spaces, but also during a tour of the underground world, a mouth and nose cover must be worn.
