Travelling by train
The Saarland is the perfect destination for UK travellers to be reached by train. Convenient and environmentally-friendly with one change in Paris only. For further information see http://www.bahn.de.
Once in the Saarland, use our Saarland/Rhineland-Palatinate ticket. Up to five people or parents/grandparents with an unlimited number of children can travel for one day all throughout the Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate. We don’t want to boast but our regional train connections are first-class and something worth mentioning. They help you to make the most of your stay in the Saarland and explore the region according to your interests:
Hourly connections along the Rhine, Moselle and Saar
- (Cologne) – Koblenz – Trier - Saarbrücken
- (Frankfurt airport) – Mainz – Bad Kreuznach - Saarbrücken
- Bikes can be taken on local trains free of charge from Mon to Fri from 9 am and anytime on Sat, Sun and on Public Holidays.
Interval timetable
- ICE and IC trains to (-Frankfurt /-Stuttgart /-Munich) with further connections in all directions
Travelling to our neighbours
- Fast bus service 13 times per day between Luxembourg and Saarbrücken with connections from and to Brussels
- Regular connections from and to Strassbourg and Metz
