“The Bliesgau box“

This food hamper is filled with products from the biosphere reserve of Bliesgau, adjacent to France. Fill it up to your liking with Bliesgau apple juice and apple sparkling wine, different types of sausages, jams and honey, pumpkin specialities, pickled vegetables and vegetable juices, rapeseed oil and apple vinegar with or without herbs, milk thistle and cameline oil and, last but not least, different types of schnapps and liqueurs. Beeswax candles and other handicraft products complement the selection.

“Lyoner“ sausage

The Lyoner sausage is a typical Saarland speciality and one of its trademarks. The secret of this delicate boiled sausage which allegedly originated in Lyon (hence, the name) are the specific herbs used and the special method of curing it. It is mostly used for cold cuts and eaten with bread or served grilled or fried. No matter if cold or hot, the “Lyoner“ is part and parcel of cooking in the Saarland.

Saar mustard

Mustard has always been produced in the Saarland. Head for the Bliesgau region in the west to sample some of the typical mustard that comes in four different tastes and is produced according to old recipes and filled in clay pots.

Cameline oil

“Camleina sative Crtz“ is a very old crop that has already been used by the Celts and appreciated for its taste and components. The harvest of cameline oil in the Saarland is moderate and in accordance with nature. No pesticides or fertilisers are used. The oil crops of the plant are cold pressed and bottled by the “Bliesgau Ölmühle“ (oil mill).
