Baroque Road “SaarPfalz“

This Baroque themed road is 62.5 miles (100 km) long and links the centres of power of the former princes, dukes and earls in the German-French border region.

The four residences Ottweiler, Zweibrücken, Blieskastel and Saarbrücken plus three closely connected dynasties form the axis of the Baroque Road. In between, you will come across the ruins of splendid castles, hunting grounds and the playful gardens of the aristocracy.

The route

Starting in the pretty Baroque small town of Ottweiler you will get to Zweibrücken via Homburg-Jägersburg and Homburg. Take some time to visit Hornbach and its old monastery before continuing on to Blieskastel, the former imperial residence of the Counts von der Leyen. Your final destination is Saarbrücken via St Ingbert and Sulzbach. Here, you can visit numerous impressive building of the famous Baroque master builder Friedrich-Joachim Stengel.
