European Culture Park Bliesbruck-Reinheim

Over 8000 years of Celtic-Roman history are brought back to life in the European Culture Park Bliesbruck-Reinheim including a real archeological sensation, the grave of the Celtic Princess of Reinheim dating back to the 4th century B.C.

The park is located in the idyllic valley of the river Blies, right on the German-French border, and is one of the main archeological attractions of the region. Already in the Middle Stone Ages more than 8000 years ago, this area was populated by humans.

The grave of the Celtic princess

The grand grave of the Celtic “Princess of Reinheim“ was discovered during excavations in 1954. The burial objects found then such as jewellery made of pure gold achieved world-wide fame. The reconstructed and accessible burial ground show the splendid grave the way it might have looked like 2400 years ago.

Testimonies of a vibrant life

Apart from the grave of the Celtic princess there are further reconstructions and foundations that give you an idea of past luxuries, such as the Celtic village “Taradunum“, the Roman villa rustica and the Gallo-Roman settlement “vicus Bliesbruck“ featuring a craftsmen quarter and thermal baths.

Suggestions for events and offers

Apart from changing exhibitions the European Culture Park also organises a number of historical festivities, such as the “Vita Romana“ in summer oder the “Celtic Fest“ in autumn. In order to convey the Celtic and Roman way of life as vivid as possible, programmes and workshops dealing with archeology, pottery, etc are offered for groups, school classes and children.
